Clinical Research / Teaching

Through teaching and research there is the opportunity to improve the treatment methods and success in relieving acute and chronic pain of muscular origin.

The myo Clinic participates in clinical research studies to obtain outcome measures for the effectiveness of the myoActivation technique.

Current studies underway include:

1. Frozen Shoulder Study  June 2012

Outcome Study – myofascial shoulder pain and restricted mobility using myoActivation. VIHA Health Research Ethics Board approved this study on June 14, 2012  (VIHA HREB Approval H2012-29)

If your case is appropriate for inclusion in a research study, Dr. Siren will always obtain your informed consent before proceeding.  You always have the option of declining participation.  Research data does not include any identifying personal information.

Dr. Siren actively encourages other physicians to learn the myoActivation technique so that they can utilize this therapy in their medical practice.  Another physician may be present during your treatment to observe and learn the treatment method.

Should you have any reservation or discomfort in another doctor being present, Dr. Siren welcomes you to request that the observing physician not be present during your treatment.  Your comfort is of paramount importance.
